Man charged with leaving child at home alone

It started just after midnight Thursday when police were sent to check out a road hazard in the 1800 block of North Elm Street. They found a man in a vehicle stopped in the roadway and determined that he was intoxicated. They charged him with public intoxication and were about to take him to jail when he told them that his 6-year-old son was at home alone. They added charges of child endangerment and made arrangements for the child to be taken care of.

200 block of East Sherman Drive - Officers responding to a car crash Thursday evening found the vehicle had missed a curve and struck a telephone pole. The driver was not inside the car. They found the man and determined that he was intoxicated. A search subsequent to arrest turned up a .357 magnum handgun in his clothing. A charge of unlawfully carrying a weapon was added.

2100 block of Acorn Bend - A couple called for police help, saying their 16-year-old son had run away. The responding officer learned that the teen had punched and kicked both parents while they tried to restrain him. When they find him they will charge him with family violence assault, according to the police report.

3100 block of Unicorn Drive - A Craig's List purse swap didn't work out, a woman reported Thursday afternoon. The victim said the other woman will not fulfill her part of the bargain and is now harassing and threatening her.

8100 block of Montecito - Police responded with paramedics to a report of a 2-month-old baby that was unconscious and not breathing about 2:15 a.m. Thursday. An investigation is continuing.

Montecito Boulevard - A 20-year-old woman reported Thursday afternoon that as she was walking down the street she was struck by a rock. She did not see who threw the rock.
