                             THE COP SHOP

Robber brandishes pistol, takes cash

Denton police are looking for a man who robbed, then pistol-whipped an employee at the Whataburger in the 1700 block of Malone Street early Tuesday. Employees called for help about 3:20 a.m. They said the two of them were working when a man walked in with a pistol and said, "I need the money." He made one employee lie face down on the floor while the second gathered cash from the register, drop box and safe. Then he pistol-whipped the employee and told the frightened men to "count to 25," and he left. The employees saw him running westbound on Amherst Street from Malone. He was described as a while male in his mid 20's of medium height and thin. He had short dark hair and was clean shaven. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt and black sweat pants, Vann's brand slip-on shoes and gloves. He carried the pistol in his right hand and also was carrying a Nike drawstring backpack.
Officers searched the neighborhood but did not locate the suspect.
