THE COP SHOP
My sincere thanks to the officers who worked Saturday. They all wrote narratives with enough information for me to write this blog.
Officer makes traffic stop, helps driver
An officer noticed a car being driven erratically about 8:40 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of South Locust Street so she made a traffic stop. The car was weaving in the traffic lanes, made a wide turn and didn't use a turn signal. The officer also noticed the car's registration expired in 2010 and the inspection sticker expired in 2009.
The 84-year-old driver had trouble walking, even using a cane, the officer noted. He had no insurance and his driver's license expired in 2011. The man said he was homeless and had no money but did not want to stay in a shelter. The officer took the man to the police department lobby and contacted Adult Protective Services to obtain assistance for him.
