THE COP SHOP
My sincere thanks to the officers who worked Saturday. They all wrote narratives with enough information for me to write this blog.
Officer makes traffic stop, helps driver
An officer noticed a car being driven erratically about 8:40 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of South Locust Street so she made a traffic stop. The car was weaving in the traffic lanes, made a wide turn and didn't use a turn signal. The officer also noticed the car's registration expired in 2010 and the inspection sticker expired in 2009.
The 84-year-old driver had trouble walking, even using a cane, the officer noted. He had no insurance and his driver's license expired in 2011. The man said he was homeless and had no money but did not want to stay in a shelter. The officer took the man to the police department lobby and contacted Adult Protective Services to obtain assistance for him.
1700 block of South Loop 288 - A clerk at a gas station reported at 1:20 p.m. Saturday that a customer asked for change for a $10 bill and a $20 bill, all in $5 bills. The clerk made change for the customer but then discovered that the larger bills were counterfeit.
600 block of East Hickory Street - An employee of the Denton County Transportation Authority reported Saturday morning that someone broke the tempered glass shelter at the bus stop on the bus/train property.
West McKinney Street at Bolivar Street - An officer stopped a driver about 2:40 a.m. Saturday on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. After making an arrest the officer found in the 24-year-old female driver's property a cred card skimmer, used to steal credit card information from people who pay with the cards.
