Drugs stolen from nursing home

Police are investigating a report from the director of nursing at an assisted living facility that someone took 44 Lortab tablets from the narcotic medication cart. Lortab is the brand name of a painkiller that is sometimes abused for recreational purposes. The nurse had no suspects and an investigation is continuing.

Other reports

1800 block of South Loop 288 - Employees of a cosmetics store called 911 for help about 7:30 p.m. Thursday. A woman had picked up $150 worth of products and tried to walk out without paying for them, according to the police report. The employees detained the woman. But she escaped before police arrived and left in a silver car. The employees managed to get the car's license plate number but officers did not find the car. An investigation is continuing.

2900 block of Augusta Street - Vandals damaged community mailboxes belonging to a group of town homes, according to a Thursday afternoon report. The damage was estimated at $1,400.
