                                   THE COP SHOP

Man fills duplex with gas

The manager of a duplex complex in the 3700 block of North Elm Street called police for help about 11:30 p.m. Sunday after a tenant told her that one of his roommates was drunk and threatening to kill everyone. Officers noted that they had been to the duplex the evening before under similar circumstances. One of the roommates told arriving officers that he was afraid to go inside because of the other man. A female roommate said she awoke and smelled gas. The officers entered the duplex and found that all four burners on the gas stove were turned on with no flames and the hot water heater pilot was in the same dangerous condition. The roommates said the man did the same thing that morning and the gas company came and made everything safe. The officers arrested the 41-year-old suspect on charges of deadly conduct, criminal mischief and assault by threat.
