Violent Sunday

People who live in a house in the 6400 block of West Oak Street called police about 9:40 a.m. Sunday to report that a 27-year-old man came into the house and started fights.
The suspect assaulted one of the people who lives in the house, according to the report. Then he went outside and slashed a tire on a car belonging to another of the residents. That man ran outside to stop the suspect from damaging his car. They struggled and the suspect cut the second victim twice on the leg with the knife. He suffered minor cuts. The suspect was arrested, according to the police report, and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, assault and vandalism.

100 block of North Locust Street - An employee of Andy's Bar reported about 6 p.m. Sunday that someone came into the business sometime between 3:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and took the safe, which contained cash belonging to the bar.

100 block of Heritage Street - A man called police about 8:30 p.m. Sunday and reported that his wife hit him with her fist and choked him while he was trying to drive them home. The officer noted that the man had a red and swollen neck. Both his cheeks were red and one of them was swollen, the officer wrote. The wife admitted hitting and choking her husband but said he had hit her earlier. She said she was trying to retrieve her cell phone from him. The wife was taken to jail on a family violence charge.
